Wizards of the Coast introduced Set Boosters in 2020, offering a fun new way to open packs. These boosters, available from Zendikar Rising to The Lost Caverns of Ixalan, featured exclusive cards designed for Commander.

Although Set Boosters ended with the introduction of Play Boosters in Murders at Karlov Manor, their unique cards still stand out. Here are five Set Booster exclusives perfect for Commander decks in the Philippine MTG market.

1. Sardian Avenger

Sardian Avenger is a two-mana, 1/1 Goblin Warrior from The Brothers' War with first strike and trample. It gains +X/+0 when attacking, where X is the number of artifacts your opponents control. It also deals one damage to an opponent whenever an artifact they control goes to the graveyard.

Pair Sardian Avenger with Treasure-focused commanders like Vazi, Keen Negotiator, or Jolene, the Plunder Queen for maximum damage. It's also effective in red decks that focus on noncombat damage, such as those led by Ojer Axonil, Deepest Might, or Ghyrson Starn, Kelermorph.

2. Staff of Titania

Staff of Titania, from The Brothers' War Set Boosters, is a two-mana equipment card that grants +X/+X to the equipped creature, where X is the number of Forests you control. It also creates a 1/1 Green Forest Dryad land creature token when the equipped creature attacks.

This card shines in mono-green decks. Titania, Voice of Gaea, and Titania, Nature's Force are ideal commanders, as they benefit from having many Forests. Voltron-style commanders like Thrun, Breaker of Silence, and Kosei, Penitent Warlord also pair well with Staff of Titania.

3. Court of Embereth

Court of Embereth is a four-mana red enchantment from Wilds of Eldraine. It makes you the monarch when it enters the battlefield and creates a 3/1 red Knight creature token at the beginning of your upkeep. If you're the monarch, it deals X damage to each opponent, where X is the number of creatures you control.

Court of Embereth fits well in red Monarch-matters commanders like Aragorn, King of Gondor, Queen Marchesa, and Jared Carthalion, True Heir. It also synergizes with token-focused commanders like Caesar, Legion's Emperor, Otharri, Suns' Glory, and Mishra, Claimed by Gix.

4. Firemane Commando

Firemane Commando from March of the Machine is a 4/3 flying Angel Soldier. You draw a card when you attack with two or more creatures, and an opponent draws a card when they attack players other than you with two or more creatures.

Firemane Commando is a great addition to Angels-themed decks led by Sigarda, Font of Blessings, Shilgengar, Sire of Famine, and Gisela, Blade of Goldnight. It's also a good fit for Soldiers-themed decks like Harbin, Vanguard Aviator, Commander Mustard, and Iroas, God of Victory.

5. Throne of Eldraine

Throne of Eldraine from Wilds of Eldraine is a five-mana legendary artifact. When it enters the battlefield, you choose a color. It can tap for four mana of the chosen color for monocolored spells. You can also pay three mana of the chosen color and tap it to draw two cards.

Throne of Eldraine is perfect for mono-color Commander decks, especially those in white, red, or black. It's useful for mana ramp and card draw in Kindred-themed decks like Angels, Soldiers, Goblins, and Zombies.

These Set Booster exclusive cards can bring unique strategies and powerful effects to your Commander deck. Consider adding them to enhance your gameplay experience in the Philippine MTG scene.
