  • Curious Forager

Bloomburrow is shaping up to be a special Magic: The Gathering set, marking the first all-animal theme. This set features gorgeous art, rich flavor, and powerful new abilities. At MTG Rocks, we're thrilled to debut two exclusive spoilers: Plumecreed Escort and Curious Forager. Both cards look promising in Draft and could also shine in themed Commander decks.

#1 Plumecreed Escort

Plumecreed Escort is a Bird Scout with a simple yet powerful ability. This 2/1 flier can grant another creature Hexproof in response to a removal spell. This makes it a versatile card in a tempo deck, offering both an evasive threat and a form of protection.

Potential:

Limited: A strong blue uncommon with potential for blowout plays.

Standard: Could thrive in a low-power meta post-rotation, especially in tempo decks.

Commander: Less impactful, but useful in Bird-themed decks or with Blinking effects for protection

#2 Curious Forager

Curious Forager, a Squirrel Druid, invokes the vibes of Eternal Witness. The Forage mechanic allows you to pay its cost (exiling three cards from your graveyard or sacrificing a Food Token) to return a permanent card from your graveyard to your hand. This provides consistent card advantage, making it valuable in decks built around Forage.

Potential:

Draft: Likely a solid pick due to its card advantage.

Standard: With enough Forage support, it could function as a Standard-legal Eternal Witness with an upside.

Synergy: Works well with cards like Camellia, the Seedmiser, enabling potential combos by creating Squirrel tokens.

Bloomburrow officially releases August 2nd, but prereleases begin July 26th.
